REMDEL OPTIMUM COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED is a multi dimensional entertainment content entrepreneur. The company provides its customers with variety of entertainment and communication deliverables. It is an integrated Film, Music, Television production and Marketing Company licensed by the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) as a National Distributor and about the only company patterned after the American Studio type. The company was incorporated on 8th of March, 1993 with registration number RC 217325.
The varieties of Television Production we engage in include News Packages, Documentaries, News Magazine Programmes, Current Affairs, Entertainment Programmes, Cultural Orientation Programmes, Religious Programmes, etc.
Although we are multi media and multi genre Company, we however run and maintain the largest film distribution and verifiable network in Nigeria. The Company is imbued with the dynamism and aggressive growth plans to widen the nexus. The Company has for example concluded plans to open shops in Lokoja, Kogi State and Abuja, FCT in the first quarter of the year.
Apart from its own outlets, ROCOM has entered into partnership with many other community based retailers to strengthen its distribution chain and has cultivated some Retail Partners in its bid to reach many more customers. These are establishments who have their own businesses but sell our films. ROCOM also has a virile mobile trading arm whose responsibility is to take the goods directly to the last buyer who may not look for the films in the shops.
The whole idea is to invigorate the distribution value chain of the film/ movie industry and to inject some dynamism into the laid-back shops system. This has proved very complimentary to the age long shelf display system and has helped to maximize sales
Apart from our strong emphasis on virile distribution chain, Remdel engages in an Annual Capacity Building Workshop which is directed at filling critical and sensitive gaps in the production and marketing process. It has been observed that more attention, interests and emphasis have been shifted to acting to the detriment of other equally vibrant and profitable areas of production. The Capacity Building workshop started in 2007.
It therefore became necessary to enlist interests of youngsters and budding talents in the entertainment industry so as to move people without jobs to jobs without people. Through this process, we are able to raise distributors to build a virile network
The company also engages in yearly Film Festival which is called Festival of Indigenous African Language Films (FIAF). This festival holds in Akure, Ondo State and it has attracted participants from all over the country as well as internationally.
As a follow up to the Capacity Building Workshop and also due to the clamour by beneficiaries of the programmes who became thirsty for knowledge, the BSN ART INSTITUTE has been established in Akure to give further training in all areas of film production. The first batch of students was enrolled in January 2009 to provide world class training under the tutorship of the best of brains in the industry.
We have also finalizing arrangements to start a TV drama series running in all the States of the South-West including Kogi and Kwara States to partly provide forum for the Students of BSN Art Institute to effectively practice their trades as well for other social reasons. The title of the programme is ‘Ajankorodugbe’. Others in the category are ‘Baba De Juntion’, an hilarious Comedy and ‘Agbo Ile Owonikoko’, a Yoruba Soap Opera on TV.
Remdel is also currently running a campaign aimed at creating aFilm-Production Friendly COMMUNITY around Ekiti and Ondo States with the aim of attracting film production and production budgets to these two States and also to boost tourism, provide employment as well as to promote the local culture of the States. This is in collaboration with the governments of the States.
ROCOM is the founding father and a foundation member of Independent Films & Video Producers Association of Nigeria ( INFIVPMAN ). This Association is registered by the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the Company & Allied Matters Decree, 1990. The incorporation Certificate number of the Association is CAC/ IT/ NO/24330.
ROCOM has also concluded plans to start broadcasting on the Star Times having acquired a channel to run REMDEL TV. The studios of the TV channel are built in Akure, Ondo State where the transmissions will begin with the target of moving to Lagos after an initial 3 months transmission from Ondo State. After stabilizing the TV channel, it is our hope to secure a RADIO channel to boost distribution and improve the lot of entertainment in Nigeria.
