The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted the people of the state to shine their eyes and continue to keep the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at an arm’s length as the topsy-turvy state of the party at all its levels is an indication that its handlers have nothing positive and tangible to offer the people of the state.
Kola Olabisi, Media Director for APC in Osun, said the prevalent situation in the PDP, where there have been suspensions and counter-suspensions of some of the principal members of its National Working Committee, is proof that things have fallen apart in the party, and the centre has refused to hold.
It was either because the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke had the foreboding or an advanced knowledge of what would befall the party that prompted him to rush his filling of the questionable governorship screening form for nomination for his reelection bid at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.
The same was replicated by the PDP governorship aspirants in Ekiti State, where one of the two aspirants stepped down for the other to emerge as the governorship candidate.
Sequel to the suspension and counter-suspension of the NWC members of the PDP yesterday, the Osun State Chapter of the PDP announced the suspension of all party meetings across the state, following what it described as the brewing crisis within the national leadership of the party and the suspension of four key national officers. The state chapter of the PDP however, quickly disowned the statement when the enormity of the damage done to the party was discovered.
At its 608th meeting held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) suspended the following national officers for one month and referred them to the National Disciplinary Committee for further investigation: Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary; Hon. Umar Bature, National Organising Secretary; Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, National Legal Adviser and Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha, Deputy National Legal Adviser.
In a swift, dramatic turn of events, the PDP faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, too a, announced the suspension of the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum d five other members of the National Working Committee.
We have been vindicated with the turn of the unsavoury plight of the PDP right from the national to the ward level where monumental crises have been the lot of the party.
We can only advise our numerous dedicated supporters to shine their eyes very well when it comes to giving their support for political parties as it is now glaring that the PDP which could not manage its own affair successfully should not be trusted with the management of the affairs of about the five million people of Osun State.
With the turn of events at the national headquarters of the PDP, it is apposite to observe and conclude that the Adeleke screening document as the sole governorship candidate of the PDP in Osun State which was flaunted with fanfare last Wednesday in Abuja wasn’t better than a waste paper.
It is right to say the PDP has since left the Intensive Care Unit and is slated for its final burial soonest.
Adieu, PDP!
