Aiyedatiwa Appeals To Nigerians To Celebrate Bravery Of Troops Fighting Boko Haram, ISWAP

Date:

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on Nigerians to appreciate and celebrate the bravery and resilience of military personnel confronting bandits, insurgents, and other violent criminal groups across the country.

Aiyedatiwa said recent interventions by troops, whom he described as “true patriots”, have prevented greater tragedies, including the recent attacks on schools in Kebbi and Kwara states. He noted that soldiers continue to risk their lives daily to protect the nation and maintain internal stability.

The governor made the appeal at the weekend while receiving the 46th Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abdulahi Mustapha, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Akure, the state capital.

He commended the military for its courage despite operating in difficult terrains and with limited resources, adding that Nigerian troops have remained unwavering in the fight against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other violent groups that threaten communities across the federation.

Aiyedatiwa further stated that the relative peace currently enjoyed in Ondo State is the result of sustained collaboration among the government, the military, the police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, forest guards and various volunteer security groups.

“Security is now a shared responsibility that requires continued cooperation and vigilance,” he said.

The governor assured the Naval chief of his administration’s unwavering support for all security agencies.

He also reaffirmed that Ondo state would continue to maintain its position as one of the safest states in Nigeria.
