NMDPRA Warns Against Fake Recruitment Exercise

Date:

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has issued a warning to the public over viral reports suggesting that the agency is currently recruiting new staff. The authority described the reports as the work of fake recruitment syndicates seeking to defraud job seekers.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, NMDPRA said it was compelled to issue the clarification because unscrupulous individuals have been exploiting economically vulnerable Nigerians by offering false employment opportunities. The fraudsters reportedly issue bogus letters of employment, make empty promises, and advertise non-existent positions, demanding large sums of money from hopeful applicants.

The agency emphasized that no recruitment exercise is ongoing and that it is not hiring at any level. It added that any future recruitment will be conducted in accordance with established rules governing employment in the Nigerian Public Service.

“We wish to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the statement read. “Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”

NMDPRA urged the public to ignore all fake recruitment advertisements and to verify any claims only through its official channels. The agency directed Nigerians to its official website and verified social media pages for accurate information.

“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram,” the statement added.

The authority warned that the fraudulent activities not only defraud citizens but also damage the reputation of the agency. It therefore called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment offers.
