NNPCL Reduces Fuel Price

Date:

Some Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail stations in Lagos are reported to be selling petrol at N850 per liter.

A news report observed this development around the Idimu-Ejigbo area of Lagos despite several others selling at N865 per liter on Wednesday, September 3.

The report claims it is unclear if the changes will be implemented in other outlets, but the new price is an N15 reduction and makes NNPC the cheapest place to buy petrol ahead of the holiday.

The federal government declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Minister of Interior.

According to the statement, the government congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion, urging them to uphold the Prophet’s exemplary values of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

Eid-ul-Mawlid, observed in the third month of the Islamic calendar (Rabi’ al-Awwal), marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

The statement read. “The Minister of Interior wishes Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.”

Nigerians traveling to meet their loved ones during the holiday will be hoping the price reduction is implemented in more filling stations.

Also, Ardova Plc and Mobil filling stations have reduced petrol price to N860 per liter

Ademola, a fuel attendant at one of the NNPC filling stations, told Legit.ng that the changes might not be implemented everywhere.

He said: “Yes, we have adjusted our prices, but only a few of us have. Not every NNPC filling station has made pump adjustments. Some sell at N850, others reduced to N855, but the majority still sell at N875.
