Tinubu’s re-election: ADC unqualified to speak for Nigerians, says TMSG

The Tinubu Support Group (TMSG) has said that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is unqualified

‎According to the group, this is because the ADC has yet to convince the electorate that it is a credible alternative to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

‎In a statement signed by its Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG maintained that the Nigerian people who gave President Tinubu their mandate in 2023 are better placed to assess the administration’s sound performance at the end of his first four-year tenure.

‎” It is becoming increasingly farcical to see a gathering of failed opposition elements in the name of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) posturing to speak on behalf of Nigerians on almost every political issue.

‎”These are people, many of whom have a long history of failed attempts at elective offices or squandered opportunities who now give the impression that they can speak for the same voters who have consistently rejected them at the polls in their previous parties. Even the fellow who authors ADC statements has no record of winning any election.

‎”So we find it surprising that these persons are literally threatening a government with barely 28 months in office, but has done a lot to stabilise the economy and is gradually placing the country on the path of sustainable growth and development.

‎”We, however, recall that the ADC, at its first electoral outing, failed woefully in the last bye-elections in states where some of its key leaders claim as their political strongholds.

‎”For the avoidance of doubt, bye-elections were held across 13 states and 16 constituencies in August 2025 but ADC did not win a single seat anywhere, even in Kaduna, Adamawa and Anambra states which were considered as the political base of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Peter Obi respectively.

‎”Expectedly, the party claimed that the outcome of the bye-elections did not reflect its true strength as the coalition platform of opposition leaders.

‎”We, however, consider the posturing by the party as the height of deceit by a group of politicians who are not only out of touch but have also been clearly decimated politically by the ruling party in their respective states.

‎”It is our view that the President Tinubu administration has, in two years, done a lot to stabilise the economy and will do more for the Nigerian people in the run-up to the 2027 election to get a second term in office,” the statement added.

‎TMSG urged Nigerians to ignore efforts by opposition elements to misrepresent the Tinubu administration, but they will judge the President strictly on his campaign promises when the time comes.
