Senator Fasuyi Drives National Social Security Reform While Fueling Grassroots Empowerment in Ekiti North

Date:

Sunday Olajide, Lagos.

Senator Cyril Fasuyi commanded national attention recently, leading a significant legislative effort in the Senate while simultaneously rolling out comprehensive empowerment programs across his Ekiti North Senatorial District. This dual focus underscores his commitment to both macro-level policy reform and grassroots economic stability.
Landmark Social Security Bill Moves Forward
On October 21, 2025, Senator Fasuyi spearheaded a landmark debate in the Senate, successfully moving the second reading of his proposed Nigeria Social Security Trust Fund (NSSTF) Bill, 2025.
The core of this legislation is to streamline and strengthen worker protection by repealing and consolidating the existing NSITF Act of 2004 and the Employee Compensation Act of 2004. The objective is to create a more unified, effective system that offers comprehensive social security coverage to Nigerian workers, protecting them against death, injury, disease, or disability resulting from work-related activities.
The motion was enthusiastically seconded by Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Solomon Lalong, drawing applause from the entire Senate and highlighting the broad recognition of Sen. Fasuyi’s significant contribution to workers’ welfare and national development.
Empowering Ekiti North: Food Security and Digital Futures
Concurrently, Senator Fasuyi concluded a remarkable week of comprehensive empowerment initiatives across the five Local Government Areas (LGAs)—Ido-Osi, Ikole, Ilejemeje, Moba, and Oye—that constitute his Ekiti North Senatorial District.
Boosting Food Security
A large-scale agricultural empowerment program at Ilugbusi Hall in Ido-Ekiti saw hundreds of farmers from all 56 wards receive crucial support. The initiative provided vital resources, including fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, various modern agricultural implements, and over N5 million in cash to more than 400 constituents.
> “Providing our farmers with the right tools and support will not only increase their yield but also significantly improve their livelihoods and reduce poverty,” Senator Fasuyi stated, emphasizing the program’s role in strengthening the agricultural value chain and fostering food self-sufficiency in the region.

Securing the Future with Tech Training:
The Senator also unveiled a groundbreaking knowledge and Skill Acquisition Training program for 40 Ekiti North young graduates specializing in computer-related courses, targeting intelligent, IT-compliant youths not more than 25 years old.

This intensive, three-month training—with an overall cost exceeding N200 million—will focus on digital literacy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and coding, leading to Microsoft certification for each participant. Each trainee will be camped at Ikun-Ekiti and receive a monthly stipend of N100,000 for upkeep during the training.

Furthermore, they will each be given a specialized laptop worth over N1 million.
The top ten trainees will be sent to Dubai for further advanced ICT training. The Senator expressed confidence in the program’s long-term impact, noting, “If the selected students pass the exams, it will be goodbye to poverty for the beneficiaries and their families… For the rest of them, there is ready-made employment.” This initiative is designed to transform local job seekers into globally competitive tech talent.
Investing in Education

Finally, Senator Fasuyi
demonstrated his commitment to foundational education by distributing 50,000 free notebooks to Primary 5 and 6 pupils across schools in the Ekiti North Senatorial District, aiming to alleviate a common financial burden for parents.

All these actions illustrate Senator Fasuyi’s impactful representation, balancing vital national policy work with tangible, high-impact empowerment programs for his constituents.
