Sports for Community Development
Osun is about to enter an era of superabundance of sports facilities in all its communities. We are going to use the provision of sports facilities as a strategy for upskilling our youth to create opportunities for them both locally and on the international front.
You are going to see courts for basketball, volleyball, tennis, handball, badminton, etc – both indoor and outdoor spread all over the state and all built with heavy duty materials so they can outlast generations. Every local government will have at least two sports facilities of this nature.
Sporting helps people spend time productively even when they are just ‘playing’. This reduces idle time and idle hands (the devil’s workshop), promotes good health and gets our young people ready for opportunities and even careers locally and internationally. As you may know, there are foreign universities that have slots for admitting students based on their sporting skills.
Such courts can also be of use for the community in other ways that helps the community to bond and to grow.
We will do this with your support. Talk to the APC leader around you about it today.
