The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru, has emphatically declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the ongoing coalition cannot be a threat to President Bola Tinubu’s second-term reelection.
Speaking in Ibadan, Oyo state capital while featuring at a round table discussion organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone B held at the Iyaganku Press centre on Monday, Basiru said there would be no vacancy in the Presidency in 2027.
Senator Bashiru advised the opposition leaders to join forces against President Tinubu to wait until 2031.
He stressed that most of the politicians in the coalition were out to achieve selfish interest and do not have the interest of the country at heart, adding that Nigerians should not allow themselves to be used for their selfish agenda
“You can’t talk of coalition in a presidential system of government. You can’t be in the Labour Party and at the same time be in ADC. Coalition is not only strange to our political system, it is unknown and absolutely depicts the state of confusion of the minds of those who are engaging in the act,” he said.
The APC National Secretary added, “No serious politician will abandon a veritable, strong, competent and capable electoral machinery like APC to go and join an unknown organisation.”
