The Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, is poised to consolidate and transform several milestones it achieved in its first year of upgrade as a full-fledged University in the year 2026.
The Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor B. I. Popoola, who revealed this at his New Year’s message to members of the University community, said he would vigorously “pursue an agenda of consolidation, expansion, innovation, and people-oriented development.
Among many other promises, he said he would ensure regular payment of workers’ salaries, saying it is crucial for motivation adding that “a motivated workforce is the engine of institutional excellence”.
The V. C said he is committed to clearing all outstanding staff indebtedness and that by this time next year, no staff will be owed a kobo.
”The management will take initiative without needing reminders from unions” and prioritising staff welfare shall surpass previous administrations in 2026, he affirmed.
While acknowledging past shortcomings in welfare provisions, Professor Popoola a renewed commitment to improving working conditions and professional support.
Specifically on the students’ front, he said he would aim at providing students with a conducive living environment adding that
He would ensure prompt processing of semester results to eliminate unnecessary delays while making results ready before the commencement of a new session.
Other promises made by the Vice-Chancellor, copies of which were extensively circulated within the University include:
”Capacity building for groundbreaking research, ensuring our
scholars compete globally, and expanding our ability to win
national and international research grants.
”We shall work towards completing all ongoing projects
across the University and initiating new landmark projects,
including a University power plant to ensure a constant
electricity supply.
”Recruiting additional staff to eliminate dependence on ad hoc appointments.
h. Attracting special project interventions from government,
development partners, and private investors.
” Promoting peaceful coexistence with the people of Ondo
Kingdom, our cherished host community.
” Improving our webometric ranking, ensuring AFUED
becomes visible globally in teaching, research, and
innovation.
” Hosting major international conferences, thereby
showcasing AFUED on the global academic stage.
” And strengthening and diversifying our internally generated
revenue through innovation, partnerships, and
entrepreneurship.
