JAMB Announces Free UTME Forms For People With Disabilities

Date:

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that persons with disabilities (PWDs) will receive free application documents for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The announcement was contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin, published on the board’s website on Monday.

As done in previous years, the Board said the free application documents would be processed through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group for eligible candidates with disabilities who intend to sit the examination.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this during a meeting with critical stakeholders at the Board’s national headquarters in Abuja.

He restated the Board’s commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities through its free application documents initiative.

According to Oloyede, beneficiaries of the scheme include, but are not limited to, persons living with Down syndrome, autism, dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

“To support persons living with disabilities, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of persons living with disabilities.

“For candidates to enjoy this, such candidates must possess five O’Level credits at not more than two sittings. In addition, audiobooks will be provided to all blind candidates,” he said.

The registrar explained that the audiobooks are digital adaptations of conventional printed materials and would be made available in popular audio formats such as MP3, WMV and WMA, to ensure compatibility with devices capable of playing audio files.

He added that the initiative underscores the Board’s resolve to remove barriers to access and ensure that candidates with disabilities are given equal opportunities to pursue their academic aspirations.

It was earlier reported that registration for UTME for the 2026/2027 academic session commenced on Monday, 26 January.

It closes on Saturday, 28 February.
