The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has disbursed a total of ₦20,137,770.34 to nine beneficiaries under the Group Life Insurance Scheme, benefiting the families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The beneficiaries, comprising next-of-kin and family members of the fallen officers, received the funds during a cheque presentation ceremony aimed at supporting their education, healthcare, and general well-being.
This was contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, on Thursday.
“The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has successfully disbursed a total sum of ₦20,137,770.34 to 9 beneficiaries under the Group Life Insurance Scheme,” the statement read.
At the ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Ibrahim Sumaila, represented the CP and conveyed the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s message.
He emphasized that the welfare of officers and their families remains a top priority for the Force.
“The Group Life Insurance Scheme is a testament to the IGP’s compassion, accountability, and exemplary leadership in honouring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for national peace and security,” DCP Sumaila said.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds prudently to support their families, describing the scheme as a vital mechanism for financial relief and stability for the families of fallen heroes.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the statement quoted Mr. Modu Ishaku expressing gratitude to the IGP for the gesture and assured that the funds would be used judiciously.
The latest payout follows a similar exercise in January 2026, when the same Command disbursed approximately ₦18.38 million to nine families of fallen officers.
The Nigeria Police Force’s Group Life Assurance Scheme aims to provide critical support nationwide, reinforcing institutional commitment to the welfare of officers and their dependents even after the line of duty ends in tragedy.
