NAF To Intensify Air Operations Against Terrorists

Date:

The Nigerian Air Force says it will sustain intensified air operations against terrorists and criminal elements across the country.

According to a statement shared via the agency’s X handle on Monday, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, made the commitment while honouring troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE during an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon in Makurdi, Benue State.

Represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS said he had “profound appreciation for the courage, discipline and sacrifices of personnel deployed within the theatre.”

Addressing security operations, he stated that the NAF “remains resolute in prosecuting intelligence-driven air campaigns designed to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorists and criminal networks.”

He added that the force had sustained “precision strikes, close air support and armed reconnaissance missions in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies,” noting that these efforts “have significantly disrupted adversary logistics, command structures and freedom of movement.”

The CAS said recent operational gains were due to “the professionalism, determination and joint operational synergy demonstrated by personnel on the frontlines.”

In his welcome address, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal MC Ekwueme, commended personnel for their “dedication and high morale,” stressing the need for “sustained operational focus and unity of purpose in confronting emerging threats.”

Also speaking, the Air Component Commander, Wing Commander OO Evulobi, expressed appreciation for “the continued support of the Chief of the Air Staff and the collective efforts of all stakeholders in advancing operational success.”

The CAS further highlighted “ongoing investments in modern air platforms, advanced training and enhanced welfare initiatives,” urging personnel to remain “vigilant, disciplined and resolute in sustaining efforts towards achieving lasting peace, stability and national prosperity.”
