The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, as the Chairman of its National Campaign Council ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election,.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the election for June 20, 2026.
Gov. Sani’s appointment announced over the weekend, signals the party’s intent to deploy its “heavy hitters” to ensure a decisive victory in the ‘Land of Honour’.
The appointment was contained in a letter dated April 24, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
According to the party leadership, Sani was selected based on his track record of political mobilization and his recent governance strides in Kaduna.
The party believes his involvement will provide the necessary “political muscle” to navigate the competitive Ekiti electoral landscape.
“This appointment is in recognition of your distinguished leadership, vast political experience, and unwavering commitment to the success of our party in this critical election,” Basiru stated in the letter.
Governor Sani is expected to join a high-powered delegation and other party stalwarts in Ado-Ekiti tomorrow for the formal commencement of the campaign trail.
The details for the official flag-off rally contained in the letter showed that the ceremony billed for Monday April 27, 2026 is to kick-off by 11:00 am. at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
