Prominent Nigerian lawyer and APC candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Kunle Adegoke, SAN, has been honoured by the Georgia House of Representatives in the United States for his contributions to the legal profession, human rights advocacy and democratic governance.
The recognition was presented in Atlanta, Georgia, during the inaugural Emerging Leaders Dialogues and Q&A Series, a platform that brings together thought leaders to discuss governance, leadership and societal development.
The honour followed the adoption of Resolution 1449 by the Georgia House of Representatives on February 24, 2026, commending Adegoke for his distinguished legal service, commitment to human rights and contributions to constitutional democracy.
In the resolution, Adegoke was described as an internationally respected legal practitioner, constitutional scholar and human rights advocate whose career has been marked by extensive pro bono work in environmental justice, labour rights, freedom of information, electoral integrity and the protection of vulnerable groups.
Lawmakers noted his consistent dedication to promoting accountability, defending the public interest and upholding the rule of law.
The commendation was facilitated by members of the Georgia House of Representatives, including Segun Adeyina, Gabe Okoye and other legislators.
The event attracted members of the Nigerian diaspora, American public officials and business leaders. Among those in attendance were Oba Bernard Akinrimisi, Kunle Masha, Otunba Rasaq Ibrahim, Olanrewaju and Damilola Suraju, Bello Oyakhilome, and the programme convener, Dr. Atilade Oshoniyi, alongside his wife, retired Magistrate Ronke Oshoniyi.
As part of the programme, Adegoke delivered a lecture titled “Leadership Before Power, Service Before Position,” where he examined Nigeria’s leadership challenges and proposed practical solutions to the country’s economic, social and political problems.
The lecture highlighted the need for value-driven leadership, accountability in public office and governance centred on service to the people. Participants also engaged in discussions on democratic development, institutional reforms, citizen participation and national development.
Also present was Terry Cummings, a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, who joined other guests in celebrating Adegoke’s achievements and contributions to public service.
