Endorse Tinubu at Your Peril, PDP Warns Members

Date:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has cautioned members against endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, warning that such actions amount to anti-party activity and will attract stiff sanctions.

In a statement on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party expressed concern over the conduct of some prominent members whose public support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its 2027 presidential candidate violates the PDP Constitution.

The NWC cited Section 10(6) of the party’s constitution, which prohibits members from aligning with other political parties or groups in a way that undermines the PDP or its elected governments.

According to the statement, these endorsements, alongside repeated public criticism of the PDP, threaten party unity and could harm its electoral prospects if left unchecked.

The NWC therefore issued a strong reprimand and urged those involved to retract their positions or face disciplinary action under Section 59(1) of the constitution.

While the statement did not single out individuals, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as well as some PDP governors and prominent figures, have in recent months openly declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The party urged members to remain loyal and focused ahead of its national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
