Deji of Akure.Closes Markets Friday to Observe Amole Festival

The Palace of the His Majesty, the Deji of Akure has  notified the business community in the town that in line with traditions and culture of the land, markets, shops and stalls will be shut on Friday 29th August, 2025.

The closure becomes necessary, according to a statement issued by Adeyeye Michael, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba so as to observe the age long tradition of the Amole Festival.

 

“There will be no opening of markets, stalls, trading or opening of shops under any guise during the festival.

 

“Residents, market women and shop owners are kindly enjoined to abide by this directive and ensure strict observance of the rules.

 

“Kindly note that ONLY pharmacy shops and Patent Medicine stores are EXEMPTED from closure during the festival.

 

“However, there will be no restriction of human and vehicular movement during the festival.”
