Wike-Backed PDP Faction Summons Emergency BoT, NEC Meetings

Date:

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee will hold on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

According to a notice issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared on his X handle by the media aide to the FCT minister, Lere Olayinka, both meetings are scheduled to hold at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The notice stated that the BoT meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m., while the NEC meeting will follow at 2:00 p.m.

It added, “Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.”

It was earlier reported that the PDP, at its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, expelled several high-profile members, including Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu, and others for alleged anti-party activities.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by the Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, subsequently put the motion to a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by delegates, signalling the party’s resolve to confront internal dissent and anti-party conduct within its ranks.
