The disqualified gubernatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun state, Rasheed Okoki Adekunle Adegoke SAN, Dr Iyiola Omisore and others have appealed for a review of the decision of the screening committee of Osun state APC that disqualified them and five other aspirants from participating in the December 13th primary election of the party.
Adegoke, who spoke with reporters on behalf of all the disqualified aspirants after they had submitted the appeal they filed before the relevant party committee in Abuja, berated the decision of the state screening committee, maintaining that the reason for the decision and their conclusion is incorrect.
He said the disqualified aspirants decided not to protest but rather appeal for the review of the decision because the law of the party allows an appeal if one is dissatisfied with the outcome of the state screening committee.
Adegoke explained that the reason for their disqualification by the screening committee, which was hinged on not being sponsored by 5 registered party members who are financial members, is untrue because it is evident in the documents they submitted that duly registered members who are financial members sponsored, supported and signed their papers.
He explained that he and others have gone through every procedure, and one of the procedures includes paying of delegates’ dues, which were correctly paid. These delegates are members of the party who are duly registered. They are living and not dead.
He maintained that he and the other disqualified aspirants selected one hundred and fifty-five delegates to represent the 30 local governments and 1 area council in the state who duly signed their nomination forms. And this nullifies the reason that they do not have the support of 5 registered party members who are also financial members.
Adegoke, in his appeal letter, said he has not been officially notified of his disqualification by the screening committee.
He reiterated that he has documentary evidence to counter the decision of the screening committee.
The other disqualified aspirants are
Babatunde Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Benedict Alabi, and Sen. Babajide Omoworare
