Landlady Poisons Tenant’s Son Over Feud In Ondo

A 40-year-old woman, Nafisat Lateef, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly poisoning the three-year-old son of her tenant at Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police, Lateef poisoned the boy following an argument between her and the victim’s mother, identified as Rofiat.

The suspect was said to have given the victim a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

“The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, at about 8:30am, when the suspect allegedly gave the victim, identified as Abdulrasheed, a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous.

“The act was reportedly carried out following a misunderstanding between the complainant and the suspect, who is the complainant’s landlady.

“Shortly after consuming the substance, the child began vomiting and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received medical attention. Police detectives, during a swift and intelligence-led operation, arrested the suspect.”

Jimoh further stated that in the course of investigation, the detectives recovered the liquid substance suspected to be poison.

“The suspect is currently in police custody and has made useful statements,” he added.
