BREAKING: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh wave of major road infrastructure projects across Nigeria

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh wave of major road infrastructure projects across Nigeria, including the complete reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with reinforced concrete pavement, replacing the existing asphalt sections that have begun to deteriorate.

The President also approved the 400-kilometre extension of the Fourth Legacy Highway, increasing its total length to about 1,100 kilometres, with the new route extending into Taraba State to strengthen connectivity between the North-Central and North-East.

Other approvals include the completion of the abandoned Ibi Bridge, the construction of the 5.76-kilometre Lau Bridge across the Benue River in Taraba State, and the dualisation of an additional 400 kilometres of the East-West Road from Lokoja to Benin to improve transportation, safety, and economic activities.

Minister of Works David Umahi said the projects form part of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at modernising Nigeria’s road network, enhancing regional integration, boosting trade, and delivering durable infrastructure that will serve the country for decades.
