FUOYE’s former Dean of Postgraduate Studies who is the current Commissioner For Arts, Culture and Creative Economy in Ekiti State, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare was on Friday announced as a 2026 recipient of the prestigious Fellowship of Nigerian Academy of Letters.
The Academy of Letters is the highest-ranking body of renowned Academics and Professors in the humanistic disciplines.
Enlistment as a Fellow of the Academy of Letters is the highest recognition for the Schorlaly publications and theoretical postulation of Scholars in the field of humanities. It signals the canonisation of the Schorlaly offerings and research works of the affected Scholar. The investiture of Professor Bakare as Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Letters will hold at the University of Lagos on 13th, August 2026.
Born in Aramoko-Ekiti on November 8th, 1964 to an Aramoko father and Ado-Ekiti princess, Professor Bakare attended AUD primary School, Ado-Ekiti, United High School, Ilawe-Ekiti, College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, University of Calabar and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and University of Abuja before joining the services of FUOYE in 2011. Since December 2019, he has been the Commissioner in charge of Arts, Culture and the Creative Sector of Ekiti State, and the Chairman Forum of Commissioners of Arts, Culture, Tourism, Heritage and Creative Economy in Nigeria.
