The Late mother of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaja Sidikatu Abake Basiru, has been described as one who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.
The Mufassir of Osogboland, Sheikh AbdulLateef Yusuf, stated this in his admonition at the final fidau for the deceased.
The cleric remarked that till her last days, Mama was attending religious events and would not joke with the weekly As-Salatu.
“I learnt on good authority that Mama was a member of many Islamic groups such as Ansarudeen and NASFAT, and would, as well, attend Jum’at at the Osogbo Central Mosque.”
“We thank Allaah for her life well spent in dedication to Allaah and commitment to humanity. May Allaah admit her to Aljannah Firdaus.”
Speaking on behalf of the family, the eldest son of Alhaja Sidikatu Abake Basiru, Alhaji Ismaila Basiru, described her mother as someone who loved her own family from the patrilineal and matrilineal sides. Alhaji Ismaila stressed that Mama lived a fulfilled life of faith in God and man service.
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Ajibola Basiru, thanked everybody who had stood by his immediate and extended family during the mourning period. He extended his appreciation to the political class, the National Working Committee of the party, serving and former ministers in attendance, academics, traditional rulers, business titans, technocrats, Islamic clerics, and a host of other crème de la crème of society who came in support of the Adebayo Basiru family.
The roll call included but not limited to Chief Adebisi Akande, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Governor Abiodun Oyebamiji of Ekiti State, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, former Governors Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Abubakar Badaru, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, Mrs Jumoke Oduwole, a serving Minister, Hon Akeem Adeyemi, Honourable Bamidele Salaam, Honourable Maruf Adewale Gangaria, Rt Honourable Wale Egbedun, Osun Assembly Speaker, Rt Honourable Lasun Yusuf, former Deputy Governor of Osun State Chief Grace Titi-Laoye Ponnle.
The call also included the Governorship standard bearers of APC in Osun and Oyo States, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Engineer Benjamin Adereti, Chairman, Osun APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Hon Adejare Bello, the executive director of NPA, Engineer Lekan Badmus, retired Justice Kunle Adeigbe, Professor Is’haq Oloyede, former JAMB Registrar, Professor Olu Aina, Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Khamis Olatunde Badmus Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo and Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Ola Oluwa
The Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye the Second, and the Aragbiji of Iragbijiland, Oba AbduRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, played royal roles.
The retired AIG of police, Raheem Odofin, and Alhaji Lai Busari led the Odofin family of Dr Ajibola Basiru. The final fidau and reception also pulled Nollywood stars.
The inexhaustible roll call included members of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Osun State Executive Council, Osun executive members of the APC and other party stalwarts, the Alubarika Movement, friends, allies and professional colleagues of Senator Ajibola Basiru, home and in the diaspora.
The Grand Imam of Osun State, Sheikh Musa Animashahun, led the crop of clerics to the fidau while various Islamic Societies such as Ansarudeen, Nasfat, Qoreeb, Mubarakah, and FOMWAN also joined in the prayers for the repose of the soul of Alhaja Sidikatu Abake Basiru.
